Student Support Service was brought to Lander in 2005. It’s a TRiO program, which is are outreach and student services programs funded by the federal government. Laneisha Searles, a representative for the program, is a native with dealing with TRIO programs.
Searles stated that when Lander offered the position, she found that it was a great way to show students about the program that instill so much into her career and lifestyle. SSS is a program with a diverse background that’s always lending to students of the program, whether it’s grants or scantrons for test. The program offers individual tutoring, counseling, and even grad school tours.
To be qualified for the program the student would have to meet at least one of the criteria’s: being a first-year generation college student, family of low income, or student has to have a documented disability.
Applications can be picked up from the TRiO house, which is located in front of New Residence’s parking lot.
